Males tend to be more prone to autism, or what Simon Baron-Cohen calls, “the extreme male brain”. Those on the autism spectrum can be fixated on small details and find it difficult to comprehend the meaning of the bigger, more general picture. They are often bewildered by social interactions. (1)
If detected early, there are certain techniques that psychologists can use to help autistic children cope with any Learning difficulties and anti-social behaviour. Medicare rebates are available for GP referred patients under the age of 13. Including 4 assessments and 20 early intervention treatments in total. (2)
