Cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) is a well-established and researched treatment approach that has been widely practiced for over thirty years. The empirical-based therapy is a relatively short term, focused approach to treatment. It involves examining the relationship between thoughts, feelings and behaviours and how those unhealthy relationships may negatively impact our lives. While the application of CBT can vary, the program is individualised and helps the patient identify unhelpful thoughts and behaviours and replace those with healthier skills and habits.
