
Susan is an experienced, solution-focused Accredited Mental Health Social Worker. Susan’s career has spanned across four decades which has included experience working in Queensland Health, government departments and private agencies.
Susan has experience working with every age group and in most health settings, including hospitals, and community health. Susan assists client’s presenting with physical illness, Trauma, loss and grief, behavioural and eating disorders, carer stress, workplace difficulties and conflict, interpersonal violence, social Anxiety, stress and Depression, family and relationship issues, and maintenance of intimacy.
Susan’s approach to counselling is from a strategic, strengths-based approach. As a counsellor, Susan takes on a role of supporter, facilitator and coach in assisting the client to negotiate major life transition points and make choices in such a way that longer-term outcomes will be emotionally, psychologically and physically manageable.
Susan encourages her client’s to be ultimately responsible for the choices made and the outcomes of those decisions. Susan endeavours to empower her clients to assist them to reach a successful resolution, through creating a trusting and positive relationship therapeutic with her clients.
